If you simply don't support Mac OS 10.4.11, then I suggest creating a "minimum system requirements" page if it already exists, then please provide a link in a more prominent location (such as on the new-account signup page). Safari allows me to open the PotLatch editor, but nothing happens at all when I click on "save." If I click the "edit" tab without selecting anything, the zoom function doesn't work, as there are hyperlinks that appear on top of the controls (thus, clicking the zoom function opens the "diary" function). I understand that, to select a map feature, I click the question mark first, then the item on the map however, in Firefox, if I do this, nothing appears in the left pane of the window. Unfortunately, neither Firefox nor Safari work well with OpenStreetMap on my computer. So, I tried Firefox and was able to create an account. When I registered, the browser simply redirects to a new "about:blank" page. The only two add-ons I have are the above mentioned, and for ad blocking I have a UserContent.css file instead of Adblock Plus (the ad_blocking.css file embedded in Camino.app/Contents/Resources is a good starting point).I have trouble signing up to edit OpenStreetMap from an earlier-model Mac that runs Mac OS 10.4.11. One word of warning though: Tenfourfox follows Firefox development, meaning that, as any growing software since computers exist, it gets slower across. Compare to .įinally, don't install too many add-ons if you don't need them as they can slow your startup time and take up memory. So just find a site's mobile address and a website that was glacially slow becomes an instant loader. Classilla masks itself as a mobile device so websites default to their mobile pages which load much faster. One of my favorite tricks is something I got clued in on while using Classilla. The quickest way to nix them is by hitting the esc key, but if you want to preemptively keep all animated gifs from looping, change image.animation_mode from normal to once (for animating through a single loop) or none (for no animation). You may be occasionally annoyed at how animated gifs slow things down, especially in forum threads where every user insists on having one for an avatar. That progress bar uses a nontrivial amount of CPU. Second, change to false to keep the download manager from opening when you begin a download. First, set to false to eliminate animated tabs. There are a couple of tweaks to about:config you can make. One Greasemonkey script I'll point out is the Neetzan Zimmerman Post Destroyer which, if you're familiar with Gawker, you'll totally understand. You can also install Greasemonkey for scripts that unclutter and tailor a website to your needs. This is a bit of a pain the first time you visit your regular sites and figure out what functionality to allow, but after that it makes for much smoother surfing. A lot of what slows down site loading is javascript and NoScript will let you block all scripts except for those you specifically allow. There are several things we the end user can do to speed up TenFourFox, so I thought I'd drop a list of some of my best tips:įirst, install the NoScript add-on. TenFourFox is a great piece of software, but I get annoyed when I see the CPU usage jump to 100 literally doing something as simple as moving the cursor over a webpage, and page loads are quite. But just because Cameron Kaiser & company are on the case doesn't mean we have to take it sitting down. Amazon is the only site that recently had a revamp that didn't turn it into molasses. With its rapid release schedule, TenFourFox has been in a constant arms race with website coders who are more determined than ever to make their sites slower.
